The 10th generation Honda Civic has now received a BS6 compliant diesel motor for the Indian market. The 2020 Honda Civic diesel will be available in VX MT & ZX MT variants priced at INR 20.74 lakh and 22.34 lakh respectively (ex-showroom Delhi). An important update to the car apart from the BS6 update, the Civic diesel in VX variant will also get curtain airbags and hence, both the trims are now offered with 6 airbags as standard.
Powering the 2020 Honda Civic is a 1.6L, i-DTEC, turbocharged, 4-cylinder, BS6 compliant diesel motor which produces 120 PS of peak power @ 4000 RPM and 300 Nm of peak torque @ 2000 RPM matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Honda claims that the Civic diesel will deliver 23.9 kmpl as certified by ARAI. The petrol variants of the Honda Civic were always BS6 compliant since the launch in March 2019. With this, all of the sedans that Honda retails in India come with a petrol as well as diesel engine option. However, the Civic diesel still does not get an automatic gearbox option. The 1.8L, i-VTEC petrol motor does have a CVT automatic gearbox on offer. The 1.8L petrol motor is a naturally aspirated block producing 141 PS of power and 174 Nm of torque claiming a fuel efficiency number of 16.5 kmpl.
The Civic is Honda’s most popular global sedan and one of the longest running brands for Honda. After its launch last year, the Civic also became the best selling executive D-segment sedan in India in 2019-20.
