BMW reveals pure-electric i7 luxury sedan

BMW has pulled the covers off the 7th generation BMW 7 Series and along with it also came the pure electric version dubbed the i7. The BMW i7 epitomises progressive luxury and sustainability. The brand also reveals that the new BMW i7 is set to deliver superior comfort and intuitive operation. The design combines both dynamism and comfort in premium electric mobility.

Furthermore, the German brand revealed that the i7 would make its market debut in November 2022 with a market-specific range structure. In addition to this, the brand also revealed that the i7 would be available in two models – the i7 xDrive60 available worldwide and a top-spec i7 M70 xDrive, a future flagship model.

BMW i7 – Design Highlights

The BMW i7 comes with an expressive design language featuring monolithic surfaces and a completely new front end. The front apron design has been exclusively reserved for BMW’s luxury models. The split headlight features LED DRLs and BMW crystal headlights. The car also comes with backlit crystals from Swarovski and an illuminated BMW Kidney Grille. The car also features a dynamic light carpet with changing projections. The sedan also comes with wraparound taillights and a progressive roofline. 

BMW i7 – Proportions

The brand reveals that the sedan will come with a 3,215mm wheelbase which is 5mm longer than the long-wheelbase predecessor. The vehicle length has also increased by 130mm and width by 48mm. The car also comes with 51mm of extra height as compared to the predecessor. The brand is also offering 19-inch alloy wheels as standard. The BMW i7 measures 5,391 mm in length, 1,950mm in width and 1,544mm in height. 

BMW i7 – Interiors and Top Features

The i7 comes with lavish interiors and Comfort seats as standard. Customers can also opt for an Executive Lounge on the i7. The brand also offers automatically opening and closing doors as an option. The car also gets four-zone climate control with a nanoparticle filter as standard. The car also comes with a fixed panoramic sunroof as standard. As an option, customers can order Skylounge panoramic glass roof with LED light threads. 

BMW i7 – Drive-in Drive-Ing Theatre

The luxury car can easily turn into a driving cinema thanks to the 31.3-inch touchscreen panoramic display that extends down from the headliner. The BMW Theatre Screen also comes with the latest Amazon Fire TV and offers pictures in a 32:9 format in 8k resolution. Any theatre would be incomplete without good speakers. The 7 Series offers Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system with speakers integrated into the head restraints and exciters in the backrests. A 5G compatible aerial system also brings optimised connectivity. The driver and front passenger also get a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display behind a single curved glass.

BMW i7 – Powertrain and Range

The BMW i7 comes with 5th generation BMW Drive technology. The car gets a highly integrated drive motor along with an intelligent energy management system. The i7 also come with a new charging process and advanced battery cell technology. Powering the BMW i7 are two electric motors. The electric motors can deliver 544 Hp of power and 745 Nm of torque through an electric all-wheel-drive system.

Thanks to the powerful motor, the electric luxury sedan can sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds. The EV can also achieve a top speed of 240 kmph. The motors come with a high energy density 101.7 kWh battery pack capable of delivering a range of 590 to 625 km on a single charge in the WLTP cycle. A range of 170 km can also be achieved through 195 kW DC fast-charging in just 10 minutes.
