One of the popular electric scooter manufacturers, Ather Electric is likely to be working on two new electric vehicle platforms. According to reports, Ather Electric could be planning to introduce two new electric platforms – EL and Zenith. The EL platform is likely to underpin the brand’s electric scooters as well as the Zenith platform could feature the company’s new electric motorcycle. Yes, Ather for the first time is likely to introduce a new electric motorcycle for the Indian market.
Ather EL Platform
Reports reveal that the new EL platform is in the advanced stage of development and the platform is likely to be quite versatile for electric scooters. In addition to this, the brand also plans to make the EL platform more cost effective as the Indian market is price sensitive. The Ather’s EL platform is likely to come with a new chassis, powertrain and electronics, the platform is still likely to leverage the current 450 platform which may include the battery pack as well as the Atherstacks. Reports reveal that the brand is likely to introduce a new Maxi Scooter using the new EL platform which has also been patented at the Indian Intellectual Property office.
Ather Zenith Platform
The Zenith platform, however is likely to underpin the company’s first electric motorcycle. This new Ather motorcycle is likely to compete with the equivalent of 125cc to 300cc ICE powered motorcycles in the Indian market. However, details of the new Ather motorcycle are still scarce. But expect the new Ather motorcycle to also be the direct competitor to the Ultraviolette F77, here in India. The company is also likely to be working on a new Lithium-Ion LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery technology which is likely to reduce the price gap between it and nickel based battery technologies, reveled reports.
