Ashok Leyland has launched the AVTR 4120, India’s first 4-axle 8×2 DTLA (Dual Tyre Lift Axle) 14-wheeler truck in the Indian market with a capacity of 40.5 tonne Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). Compared to the standard 8×2 trucks the Ashok Leyland AVTR 4120 8×2 DTLA truck is able to carry an additional 5 tons of payload and also claims to offer a better Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Features
The Ashok Leyland AVTR 4120 8×2 DTLA is able to operate at the 40.5-ton capacity with the lift axle down and boasts to generate revenue similar to a 10×2 truck. With its lift axle up the truck can operate at 28-ton capacity reducing the fuel consumption which claims to be similar to a 6×2 truck. This feature can be used during light or partial loads as well as while returning empty from a trip. This flexibility to operate within the 28-ton to 40.5-ton load range allows the truck to return a best-in-class TCO.
Powertrain & Technology
Powering the Ashok Leyland AVTR 4120 DTLA is an iGen6 series diesel engine that is capable of producing 200 Hp of power and 700 Nm of torque with the option of choosing the more powerful 250 Hp engine that produces 900 Nm of twisting force. The 14-wheeler features the 12.5-tonne dual tyre lift axle (DTLA) with Patented Parallogram technology. This technology is not only able to save fuel but also the tyre wear as well as improve performance and fluid efficiency. The truck also features maintenance-free Unitized wheel bearings, slipper ended rear suspension etc.
Cab Options
The Ashok Leyland AVTR 4120 DTLA is based on the AVTR series modular trucks platform and available with 3 cabin options – N Cab, U cab, M cab as well as a cowl. The N Cab features a suspended cab with dampers, a suspended driver seat, AC & HVAC, Full Metal Front Facia, an anti-roll bar in the front, storage spaces and a music system. The truck also features advanced telematics like i-Alert, remote diagnostics with 24×7 customer assistance through Uptime Solution Centre and Service Mandi network.
