Piaggio is seriously considering to shake up the premium two-wheeler market with the Aprilia brand. At a recent dealer meet in Goa, the brand showcased their 150cc supersport motorcycle which could soon make it to Indian showrooms. Aprilia already showcased the RS 150 sportsbike at the Auto Expo last year and mentioned that this bike will be sold here in our market. But at the dealer meet, the Chinese cousin, the GPR 150 was on display.

Now the Aprilia GPR 150 looks pretty much similar in the supersport appeal compared to the RS 150, but has quite a few changes. You can notice that apart from the Aprilia decals, the fuel tank, the side body fairing, the headlamp, the tail section, tail light is different. The bike will also get a different speedo console. However key components such as the perimeter chassis, USD forks and the engine will be carried over as is as seen on the Aprilia RS 150.

Aprilia in collaboration with Zongschen manufacture the GPR 150 in China. It could be a possibility that the GPR 150 is brought to India via the CKD route. At the Auto Expo 2018, Aprilia revealed that the RS 150 will come powered by a liquid-cooled motor with fuel-injection producing 18 PS of power and 14 Nm of torque. Also, ABS will be on offer.

When launched, this bike will rival the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 which is quite the benchmark in the segment.
