MG Motor has recently teased the upcoming 2025 MG Astor, known globally as the MG ZS, showcasing a series of premium upgrades and modern design enhancements. This new iteration promises to elevate the compact SUV segment with its advanced features, hybrid technology, and refined aesthetics.
Exterior Design Overhaul
The 2025 MG Astor boasts a comprehensive design overhaul, aligning it with MG’s global design language. The front fascia features a wider, rounded grille, flanked by redesigned LED headlamps that offer a sharper, more aggressive look. The front bumper has been reworked to include larger air intakes, enhancing the SUV’s sporty appeal.
Moving to the side profile, the new Astor retains its sleek silhouette but introduces new alloy wheel designs and a redefined C-pillar. The rear of the vehicle sees significant changes with a new tailgate, wraparound tail lights, and an updated bumper, giving it a more cohesive and premium appearance.
Interior Refinements
Inside, the 2025 MG Astor is expected to feature high-quality materials and a modern layout. The cabin will likely include a dual-screen setup for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, providing a seamless digital experience. Other anticipated features include power-adjustable front seats, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera system, and an enhanced Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with new functionalities.
Hybrid Powertrain
One of the most exciting updates is the introduction of a hybrid powertrain. The 2025 MG Astor will feature a self-charging hybrid system, combining an Atkinson cycle petrol engine with an electric motor. This setup, powered by a 1.83 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, allows for short-distance pure electric driving, improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.
Market Launch and Competition
The 2025 MG Astor is set to debut globally in September 2024, with an Indian release anticipated in 2025. Upon its launch, it will compete in the highly competitive compact SUV segment, facing rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Citroen Basalt, and Tata Curvv.
