Lamborghini and Audi are recalling a few units of their Huracan and R8 models. In total, less than 20 cars are affected. The ongoing recall pertains to the vehicles running with less than ideal transmission fluid levels. The manufacturers will notify the owners of the affected vehicles.
Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8 – The problem
As per the manufacturers, cars were shipped from the factory with less transmission fluid than they should have. In a workshop or service centre, manual oil changes or any fluid changes are done using a measuring container to gauge the fluid level to replace. However, in an automobile manufacturer’s factory, a scale is used to measure fluid levels accurately.
The manufacturers found out that one of such scales was faulty and hence, is recalling some units of the Lamborghini Huracans and Audi R8. Inadequate transmission oil will not sufficiently lubricate the internals of the cars that run on low transmission fluid. Additionally, according to the company, in racetrack environments, the excess heat can lead to the oil foaming up and exiting through the breather valve and creating a risk of fire. The manufacturers state that this can happen in an extreme case, though. It is important to note that there have been no reports of accidents, injury or fire incidents due to this recall.
Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8 – The Solution
The recall includes units from 2020-2022 Huracan EVO and 2020 Huracan STO models by Lamborghini and 2021-2022 Audi R8 Coupe and 2022 Audi R8 Spyder lineup. Lamborghini and Audi will notify the owners of the cars affected by the recall. The manufacturer will send owner notification letters by 20th May 2022. The authorised dealerships will inspect the vehicles and, if necessary, will correct the transmission fluid levels. This precautionary recall will be done free of cost.
