Renault has officially unveiled its highly anticipated 2025 Duster SUV. The right-hand drive variant indicates that this could be the version headed to India. The new Duster, which was first revealed in South Africa, is set to hit Indian roads soon, with local testing already underway.
Design and Features
The 2025 Renault Duster boasts a bold and commanding design, measuring 4,343 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width, and 1,661 mm in height. It features a 2,657 mm long wheelbase and up to 217 mm ground clearance, making it well-suited for both urban and off-road driving. The SUV is equipped with squarish headlights with integrated LED DRLs, a large grille with Renault lettering, and a robust body cladding.
Inside, the Duster offers a modern and functional cabin with a 10.1-inch free-standing infotainment screen, a fully digital 7-inch instrument cluster, auto climate control, and rear AC vents. The SUV also includes a 3-spoke steering wheel, a circular dial for a 4WD selector, and a spacious 472-liter boot.
Powertrain Options
While the exact powertrain options for the Indian market are yet to be confirmed, Renault has hinted at a range of petrol engines, including a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. The SUV is also expected to feature a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, similar to the one found in the Renault Kiger and Magnite. Additionally, Renault is considering offering a 4WD variant for the Indian market. Sadly, there will be no diesel option.
Market Impact
The 2025 Renault Duster is set to re-establish Renault’s presence in the competitive Indian SUV segment, which includes rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. The SUV will be locally manufactured in India, ensuring competitive pricing and better market penetration. Renault also plans to introduce a Nissan counterpart based on the Duster, further expanding its product lineup. Could the Duster claim the throne to the segment it actually created?
