After many speculations, rumours and spy shots, Tata Motors has launched the highly-anticipated Tiago EV in the Indian market. The brand announced the Tiago EV on the occasion of World EV Day, and we knew it would be coming soon. The Tiago EV is an important product for the brand as it expands Tata’s EV range as well as lowers the entry price point.
Tata Motors currently leads the EV evolution in the country. The brand launched its first EV, Nexon EV, in January 2020. After a lot of apprehensions, customers started realising the benefits of an EV and started adopting EVs. This is reflected in the sales of Tata’s electric cars, which grew from 1,715 units in April-June 2021 to 9,283 units in April-June 2022. Currently, the brand has over 40,000+ EV customers and has collectively driven over 500 million kilometres.
Tata has also focussed on public charging infrastructure. Currently, the brand has over 3,000 public charging points, which are a mix of AC chargers and DC fast chargers across convenient locations in India.
2022 Tata Tiago EV – Variants & Pricing
Tata Motors will offer its latest EV, the Tiago EV, in two battery packs, two AC charging options, and a total of 7 variants. There will be two battery packs on offer – a smaller 19.2 kWh and a larger 24 kWh battery pack. Meanwhile, as for charging options, there will be either a 3.3 kW AC charging option or a faster 7.2 kW AC charging option.
There will be 7 variants for customers to choose from. Special introductory prices for the Tiago EV start at INR 8.49 lakh ex-showroom. Meanwhile, the range tops out at INR 11.79 lakh ex-showroom. The detailed pricing and variants are as below –

Tata Motors mentioned that these introductory prices only apply to the first 10,000 customers. Furthermore, out of 10,000 units, Tata Motors will reserve 2,000 units for existing Tigor EV and Nexon EV customers.
Bookings for the 2022 Tata Tiago EV open from 10th October 2022. Meanwhile, deliveries for the new Tata electric hatchback will only begin from January 2023.
2022 Tata Tiago EV – Highlights
The company claims the new Tiago EV will be a charm to drive for everyone, be it a new driver or someone who’s been driving for years. Furthermore, Tata claims it has the potential to become the default car for each and every member of the family. According to the company, it is the perfect opportunity for everyone to evolve to electric and experience the best EV technology has to offer.
The new Tata Tiago EV borrows a lot of features and technology from the bigger Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max. The Tiago EV will come with 2 Drive Modes – City & Sport. Furthermore, for each Drive Mode, 4 different levels of regen settings are available.
Tata will offer a host of features with the Tiago EV. These include – plush leatherette seats, automatic climate control as standard, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, electric ORVM with auto-fold, cruise control and many more. Additionally, it also gets an 8-speaker Harman Infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Tiago EV will also be the first in the segment to offer telematics through the Tata ZConnect app. It will feature 45 connected car features as standard across the range. Some of these features include – Remote AC on/off with temperature settings, Remote Geo fencing and location tracking, Remote vehicle health diagnostics, real-time charge status, dynamic charger locator, driving score, smartwatch connectivity and more.
2022 Tata Tiago EV – Powertrain, Battery Pack, Range & Charging
The new Tata Tiago EV will use Tata’s high-voltage Ziptron architecture with a PMSM motor, similar to the Tigor EV and Nexon EV. The 19.2 kW battery pack delivers 45 kW or 60.3 HP of power and 110 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 24 kWh battery pack delivers 55 kW or 73.7 HP of power and 114 Nm of torque. Tata claims the Tiago EV with a 24 kW battery pack can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds.
As for the battery pack, it will come with a 19.2 kWh or 24 kWh battery pack. Both the battery pack as well as the motor are IP67-rated for a weather-proof and hassle-free ownership experience. Furthermore, the battery pack and motor come with an 8-year /1,60,000 km warranty. Tata claims the smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack delivers an estimated MIDC range of 250 km. On the other hand, the larger 24 kWh battery pack delivers an estimated MIDC range of 315 km.
The Tiago EV will also offer 4 different charging solutions. The first one is, using a 15A plug-point for hassle-free anytime, anywhere charging. Meanwhile, there will also be 2 AC charging solutions – a standard 3.3 kW AC charger and a 7.2 kW AC home fast charger. The latter can add 35 km of range with just 30 minutes of charging. Tata also says using the 7.2 kW AC home fast charger, Tiago EV can charge from 10 to 100 per cent in 3 hours and 36 minutes. The Tiago EV will also support 50 kW DC Fast Charging. This can add 110 km of range in just a 30-minute charge and can also charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 57 minutes.
