2022 Kia EV6 launched in India at INR 59.95 lakh

Kia has finally entered the Indian EV space with the launch of its EV6. We already know most of the details for the EV6. And today, Kia added the final piece of the puzzle, its price. The pricing for the 2022 Kia EV6 will start at INR 59.95 lakh ex-showroom.

Kia started accepting bookings for the EV6 about a week back. Prospective buyers could book the electric vehicle by paying an amount of INR 3 lakh. The bookings will take place on a first-come, first-serve basis. The company will bring only 100 units of the EV6 to India in 2022. The EV6 will arrive in the country as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). However, according to Kia, all the units for 2022 are already booked. The EV6 will be available in 15 dealerships across 12 cities. All these dealerships will also be equipped with 150 kW Fast Chargers.

Kia also mentioned that the company received 355 bookings for the EV6. The number is around 3.5 times what the company initially planned. Hence, the company will also bring additional units to the country soon.

Kia has had great sales success in India. The current Kia lineup includes – Sonet, Seltos, Carens and the Carnival. The South Korean company will also launch a mainstream EV by 2025. After its arrival, the EV6 and the entry-level EV, Kia will be able to cater to both ends of the EV market.

2022 Kia EV6 – Price, Variants & Colours

The 2022 Kia EV6 will be available in India in two variants – GT-Line and GT-Line AWD. Pricing for the range starts at INR 59.95 lakh ex-showroom for the GT-Line. At the same time, the GT-Line AWD will cost INR 64.95 lakh ex-showroom. 

The Kia EV6 will be available in six colour options to choose from – Runway Red, Yacht Blue, Aurora Black, Moonscape and Snow White Pearl. 

2022 Kia EV6 – Design Highlights

The EV6 is the first car from the company to follow the ‘Opposite United’ design philosophy. The EV6 takes inspiration from the contrasts found in nature and humanity. At the front, the EV6 features Dual LED headlights which provide a progressive design language. At the same time, it also features Adaptive Driving Beam for the intelligence to adjust the beam not to dazzle oncoming traffic.

The rear of the car features a connected LED taillight. In addition to this, it also features sequential side turn indicators, which lend a futuristic and sleek look. The EV6 also gets flush automatic door handles for a cleaner look. They also help with the car’s aerodynamics. The door handles are hidden inside and only pop out when someone approaches it with the smart key. The EV6 rides on 19-inch wheels with a Crystal cut design. They not only lend the car a sporty look but also a distinctive stance. 

2022 Kia EV6 – Top Features

The Kia EV6’s GT-Line variants will bring a host of features. Stepping into the EV6, you see an all-black interior with black suede. The seats also feature vegan leather bolsters. The next thing you will notice is the Panoramic Dual 12.3-inch Curved Displays. They provide an immersive experience and easier access to a wide range of information. 

Additionally, for an immersive sound experience, it features a 14-speaker Meridian Premium Sound System. The Driver and Passenger side Relaxation Seats also recline the front seats at a touch of a button which provides maximum relaxation. The rear of the EV6 also features a Smart Power Tailgate. The car automatically opens the tailgate in 3 seconds when it senses the smart key behind the vehicle.

For more practicality and convenience, it also features remote folding seats. The boot capacity of the EV6 is 1300 litres, with the rear seats folded. Other interior highlights include a wide electric sunroof, Shift by Wire, Smart Cruise Control and an Augmented Reality (AR) head-up display.

2022 Kia EV6 – Battery, Range & Powertrain

In India, Kia will bring its long-range 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The EV6 will come with either a single-motor or a dual-motor setup. The single-motor uses a 2WD drivetrain and produces 229 PS and 350 Nm of torque. At the same time, the dual-motor uses an AWD drivetrain and produces 325 PS and 605 Nm of torque. The dual-motor AWD EV6 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.2 seconds. As for the range, the EV6 is able to deliver up to 528 km on a single charge as per the WLTP cycle. 

Kia also equipped the EV6 with its latest Smart Regenerative Braking System. The EV6 offers six levels of regenerative braking – None, 1-3, ‘i-Pedal’, and Auto. The highlight is the i-Pedal mode which allows the car to harvest the maximum amount of energy. Additionally, it also lets the driver bring the car to a gentle halt without having to use the brakes at all.

The EV6 will also come with ultra-fast charging capabilities. Using a 350 kW charger, it can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes. 

2022 Kia EV6 – Warranty

For customers to have peace of mind, Kia will offer a standard warranty of 3 years and unlimited kilometres. In addition to this, the company will also provide a warranty on the battery for 8 years or 1.6 lakh kilometres. Furthermore, the EV6 will come standard with 24×7 roadside assistance from Kia for 3 years.
