We recently reported the new updates of the Tata Nexon, which includes a new set of alloys and a minimalist infotainment system. Tata Motors has now incorporated these updates in the Tata Nexon EV as well. The new alloys of 5-spoke diamond-cut design suit Nexon’s sporty appeal. The new infotainment system has no physical buttons, and hence the customer has to toggle through functions like Home, Favourites, Smartphone, and Back with the touchscreen. Nexon EV has been the top-selling electric car in the country. Launched in January 2020, the Tata Nexon EV recently crossed the 4,000 unit sales milestone. And for the personal EV segment, Nexon EV had an astounding 71% market share in the FY21.
Nexon EV – India Most Loved Electric Car
Powering the Nexon EV is a 30.2 kWh battery pack that makes 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque. Electric vehicles typically deliver the torque right from the get-go, making electric vehicles’ pickup speed real quick. The Nexon EV does a 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just less than 10 seconds. Tata claims that the Nexon will deliver a driving range close to 312 kilometres. But, there is a catch. A conventional internal combustion engine delivers more mileage on the highway. But an electric vehicle delivers better mileage when driven in the city rather than on the highway. This is because regenerative braking uses the vehicle’s kinetic energy while slowing down to generate energy and feeds it up to the battery.
Price And Variants
The range of Tata Nexon starts at INR 13,99,000 (ex-showroom). There are three trims on offer, XM, XZ+, and the top-spec XZ+ Lux. For the customers’ peace of mind, Tata Motors is also offering eight years or 1.6 lakh km warranty on the motor and battery pack. With the increasing demand for electric vehicles and the improving charging infrastructure, we can expect that the sales of electric vehicles will only go further up.
