2021 Honda CMX1100 Rebel cruiser revealed with automatic gearbox

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Honda has unveiled the all-new 2021 CMX1100 Rebel that draws inspiration from the brand’s popular Rebel 500 cruiser. With the Rebel 1100, Honda has re-entered the big-bore cruiser segment with a lot more equipment and a familiar cleaner running powertrain. The 2021 Honda Rebel has been introduced at the price starting USD 9,299 MSRP for the manual transmission version and USD 9,999 MSRP for the DCT automatic version.

Honda has shunned the V-Twin engine and instead, the Rebel 1100 employs a 1,084cc  22.5-degree parallel-twin four-stroke, SOHC (Unicam) engine with a 4-valve per cylinder distribution system and PGM FI with throttle-by-wire. While this is the same engine that powers the Honda CRF1100 Africa Twin in the international market including India.

The engine on the Rebel 1100 has been tweaked and features a heavier flywheel, revised valve timing and ignition settings to give the motor a cruiser character. As a result, the Rebel 1100 makes 82 Hp of power and 97.6 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission or the optional 6-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). The Africa Twin, on the other hand, produces 100 Hp of power and 105.7 Nm of torque matched to the same transmission unit, but the power and torque arrive early into the rev range.

The 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 is underpinned by a 43mm right-side-up front fork suspension with Diamond Like Coating and a Pro-Link monoshock on the rear. The stopping power comes from a single 330mm full-floating disc with a radial-mounted 4-piston calliper on the front and a single 256mm disc on the rear equipped with ABS. The cruiser also features 18-inch front alloy wheels with a ballon 130-section fat tyre and a 180-section rear tyre on the 16-inch rear alloy wheel.

The 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 is offered with features such as Cruise Control, all-LED lighting, 120mm reverse-LCD instrumentation, a 27.5-inch (698mm) low seat height and three standard riding modes – Standard, Sport and Rain along with an extra ‘User’-customizable mode. The 2021 Rebel 1100 is available in two colour options – Metallic Black, Bordeaux Red Metallic.

The 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 is expected to go on sale from March 2021.
