Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has officially revealed the 2019 Elantra facelift for the Indian market. This sedan will be officially launched on October 3rd, 2019 and will rival the likes of Skoda Octavia, Honda Civic & Toyota Corolla Altis. The D1 segment for sedans has drastically reduced thanks to the love for SUVs in our market, but brands are still optimistic and hence products are here to stay in the sedan segment. The new Elantra promises to be more sportier & futuristic in its design, and it does look the part. Yes, this is a facelift of the model which it will replace.
The 2019 Hyundai Elantra gets a new hexagonal chrome grille, new sharp LED headlamps with LED DRLs, new stylish fog lamp housing, new front bumper, new bonnet, new alloy wheels, new LED tail lamps, rear diffuser effect, new tailgate & new rear bumper with some blacked out plastic cladding integrated. With all these changes, the 2019 Elantra looks more all-new than just a facelift, and this should help its cause in attracting new buyers. The Elantra looks nice and sporty now, and it needed a facelift especially since the Honda Civic has arrived on our shores.
Bookings for the new Hyundai Elantra are now open.
Mechanically the Elantra facelift is expected to remain the same with a 2.0L petrol motor producing 152 PS of power and a 1.6L turbo-diesel motor producing 128 PS of power both of which come paired to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. These specs however could be tweaked if the engines are launched as BSVI compliant as the model being replaced had BSIV engines.
The Hyundai Elantra is a 5-seater sedan and the brands flagship sedan model at the moment since the Sonata has been discontinued. Other sedans in the Hyundai line-up for India include the Xcent & Verna both of which slot below the Elantra.
