2020 new-generation BMW X6 revealed

BMW has unveiled the all-new third generation model of the X6 SUV. The new model is expected to get new styling changes as well as engine configurations. The new X6 SUV will rival the likes of Audi Q8, Porsche Cayenne Coupe and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

The all-new X6 is styled in the evolutionary angular design fashion and features the signature kidney grille, sleek angular headlights, with hexagonal LED daytime running lights, a large air dam with bumper integrated LED fog lamp units. The profile of the car has a sloping coupe-like roof which merges with the rear end of the car and gets wraparound tail lights and a heavily angled tailgate.

The X6 measures in at 4,935mm in length, 2,004mm in width with a wheelbase of 2,975mm and the SUV is 26mm longer, 15mm wider and has a 42mm stretched wheelbase than its predecessor. The boot capacity remains the same at 580 litres which can be increased to 1,530 litres with the rear seats folded in. On the interiors, the X6 features leather upholstery as standard and the car also gets a new high-definition infotainment system and new fully digital instruments console, crystal cut-glass gear selector and more. 

In the engine department, the all-new X6 is likely to come with come with four engine configurations:-

Petrol

  • xDrive40i – 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 340 HP of power and 450 Nm of torque 
  • M50i – 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine developing 530 HP of power and 750 Nm of torque, claimed to have a 0-100 time of 4.3 seconds and a limited top speed of 250 kmph.

Diesel

  • xDrive30d – 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine producing 265 HP of power and 620 Nm of torque.
  • M50d – 3.0-litre quad-turbo V6 motor developing 400 HP of power and 760 Nm of torque with a claimed 0-100 kmph time of 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 kmph.

All the engines are matched to an 8-speed torque converter type automatic gearbox.

Needless to say, the new X6 will also get a host of safety features and driver assistance systems including the latest, Collision and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function which is now capable of detecting a cyclist and alerting the driver. 

The all-new X6 model sits between the new X5 and the new X7 and the brand is expected to launch the SUV next year in India. The current generation model which is still on sale in India is priced at INR 92.20 lakh ex-showroom, India for the xDrive 35i M Sport variant.
