Volvo has also started to transition their cars from BS4 to BS6 compliance, and the brand has launched the XC40 T4 R-Design variant in India powered by a BS6 compliant petrol engine. This model based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) has been priced at INR 39.9 lakh ex-showroom and is Volvo’s first petrol engine option for the entry-level segment.
Powering this BS6 version of the Volvo XC40 T4 R-Design is a 2.0L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor producing 190 HP of power and 300 Nm of torque matched to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This is a front-wheel drive variant and rivals the likes of BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
The BS6 XC40 also continues with the Thor’s hammer LED DRL design in the LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, diamond cut alloy wheels, 2-tone body colour options, black leather interior, aluminium inserts in the cabin, climate control, touchscreen infotainment, etc. the Volvo XC40 is the only entry-level luxury SUV which gets radar based safety features like city safety with steering assist which works up to speeds of 50 kmph in avoiding collision with cars, cyclists, animals and pedestrians. There’s also features like adaptive cruise control, roll stability control, 7-airbags, lane mitigation and other driver alerts.
The XC40 also has a 600W Harman Kardon 14 speaker sound system with a woofer placed inside the dashboard. For adding a modern touch, the XC40 T4 R-Design also comes with a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, 2-zone climate control, 9″ centre display touchscreen, 12’3″ instrument cluster, rear and front park assist, powered tailgate, etc.
Volvo will be offering the BS6 XC40 in white, blue, silver, black, grey and red paint otptions.
