Written by Rohit Tonapi

TVS Motors will make an additional GBP 100 million in Norton Motorcycles. TVS Motors acquired the iconic British bike brand in 2020. The investment extends TVS Motors’ commitment to offering cutting-edge technology, world-class vehicles, manufacturing, future mobility and sustainability.

Norton’s new manufacturing facility

The British motorcycle brand opened a new manufacturing facility in Solihull, UK. The new world-class manufacturing facility and upcoming bikes directly result from the investment. The manufacturing facility is engineered to be highly sustainable and minimise waste. Norton will build bikes in England using traditional hand-crafted techniques and also with modern-day machinery for consistently high quality.

The new manufacturing facility will also be Norton Motorcycles’ new global headquarters. Additionally, it will also house a new global design and R&D hub. A world-class team led by Robert Hentschel will work toward bringing the brand back to its rightful place. The proposed upcoming models include a re-engineered V4 SV and 961 Commando.

Mr Sudarshan Venu, Joint Managing Director, TVS Motor Company, talks about the investment made.

The Joint Managing Director says the investment will be towards electrification, cutting edge technology and manufacturing of world-class vehicles. Additionally, he expects it will create 250-300 direct jobs over the course of the next three years. He also adds that it will create another 500-800 indirect jobs across the supply chain. According to him, the investments spread over a few years will create an exciting range of products for the global market.

Boris Johnson, UK Prime Minister, talks about TVS Motors’ investment

The prime minister says the investment and trade are beneficial to both countries. He also says he is pleased that TVS Motors joins the companies investing in the UK. He also adds that it boosts the future mobility sector and helps drive the UK’s economic growth.
