Iconic British motorcycling brand Triumph has teased an all-new motorcycle through its social media channels. The teaser shows the prototype of the upcoming Street Triple 1200 RR. The name and the side profile image reveal that the new motorcycle will be a faired supersport bike. The moniker also shows that the bike will be based on the famous Street Triple RS streetfighter.
The Triumph Street Triple RR could be based on the streetfighter sibling. But the teaser image shows that the motorcycle will come with more than a nip and tuck. The Street Triple RR appears to come with a full fairing and clip-on handlebars. The nose fairing features a bubble-style windscreen to offer weather protection to the rider and wing mirrors. Interestingly, the motorcycle also features a round headlamp with signature Triumph inserts wrapped around with sharp and aerodynamic cowling. This leads us to believe that the bike will come with a neo-retro theme. The teaser image shows a tapered tail section and a scooped rider seat.
The crouching position on the rider also appears to be quite relaxed, and Triumph may position the footrests in a mildly rear-set position. It also looks like the rider is wearing a two-piece suit instead of a one-piece racing leather. This leads us to believe that Triumph may be positioning the motorcycle as a sport-tourer instead of making a proper track machine.
The Street Triple RR is likely to come with a 1,160cc Triumph Triple three-cylinder engine. The inline engine on the Street Triple RS produces 180 PS of power and 125 Nm of torque. The motor comes with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip & assist clutch and Triumph Shift Assist, a bi-directional quick shifter. Triumph is likely to use the same engine on the new Street Triple RR.
The brand is also likely to use the underpinnings from the 1200 RS, but the chassis and suspension are likely to come with a different state of tune. For reference, the Street Triple 1200 RS uses the fully adjustable 43mm Ohlins NIX30 upside-down unit on the front and Ohlins TTX36 twin tube mono-shock on the rear. The streetfighter version also has high-performance braking components such as 320mm twin discs with Brembo Stylema monobloc callipers and Continental MIB-EVO Optimised Cornering ABS (OC – ABS).
Triumph will reveal more details in the near future. The brand is also likely to launch the motorcycle in the Indian market in the near future.
