2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS launched in India at INR 16.95 lakh

Triumph has launched the Speed Triple 1200 RS in the Indian market priced at INR 16.95 lakh ex-showroom, India. The Speed Triple 1200 RS features an all-new Triple engine with a larger displacement, lighter engine weight, new and improved materials, optimised ait intakes and exhaust system, an all-new lightweight chassis, premium suspension setup and brakes as well as a comprehensive electronics package.

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS features the latest generation design with reverberates with the brand’s iconic and original 1994 Speed Triple. The 2021 models come with compact bodywork, neatly hidden cables and hoses, new LED headlamps with the latest angry-looking LED DRL signatures, new LED taillamp, self-cancelling indicators, an illuminated switch cube, RS graphics on the bodywork, Carbon Fibre front fender, 17-inch alloy wheels, Triumph branded handlebar clamp and two colour options – Sapphire Black with red & silver graphics and Matt Silver Ice with black, silver & yellow graphics. 

For 2021, the Speed Triple 1200 RS Triumph has built a new engine from grounds-up the comes with a displacement of 1,160cc and features a liquid-cooled, inline 3-cylinder architecture with 12-valve DOHC valvetrain and multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection system with electronic throttle control that punches out 180 PS of power and 125 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox with slip & assist clutch.

The brand has also managed to lighten the engine by 7 kg and boost its peak power output by 30 PS and the peak torque by 8 Nm when compared to the predecessor. The newly designed frame is also 10kg lighter than the outgoing model and the optimised new clutch with new friction material and lesser plates reduce the powertrain inertia by 12% and improves the power-to-weight ratio by 25% over the predecessor. 

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS also features premium suspension equipment such as a 43mm fully adjustable Ohlins NIX30 upside-down fork unit on the front, fully adjustable Ohlins TTX36 twin tube monoshock on the rear, 320mm twin floating discs with Brembo Stylema monobloc radial callipers and radial master pump with a separate reservoir on the front and a single 220mm disc with Brembo twin-piston calliper on the rear. 

The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS features an impressive electronics package that includes a six-axis inertia measuring unit integrated with Continental MIB-EVO Optimised Cornering ABS (OC – ABS), 5 different riding modes – Rain, Road, Sport, Track and Rider, Switchable Optimised Cornering Traction Control integrated into the riding modes, Cruise Control, Triumph Shift Assist with bi-directional quickshifter, front-wheel lift control and a Full Keyless Entry system with keyless ignition, keyless steering lock, keyless fuel filler cap.
