The first lot of Triumph Speed 400 motorbikes have been dispatched from Bajaj’s Chakan plant. The motorcycles will reach dealerships all over the country by the end of this month. Customer deliveries will begin after that.
The roadster has received phenomenal response from customers. Already, the British brand has received over 10,000 bookings for the bike. Triumph had announced an introductory price for the first 10,000 customers. While the regular price is INR 2.33 lakh, these aforementioned users would get the bike at INR 2.23 lakh.
Triumph Speed 400 : More Details
Developed under a joint-venture with Bajaj Auto, the bike comes with a modern design. We can note some inspiration from the larger Speed Twin 900. Customers can pick the Speed 400 in three colour choices – Carnival Red, Caspian Blue and Phantom Black.
The Speed 400 is expected to take on the likes of Royal Enfield’s 350-411cc bikes, Harley Davidson X440 along with Honda H’ness 350, Jawa 42, Yezdi Roadster and TVS Ronin amongst others.
Triumph has equipped the Speed 400 with a 398cc liquid cooled motor, This engine develops 39.5 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and offers a peak torque of 37.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel using a 6-speed gearbox.
Features of the Triumph Speed 400
The British brand has offered many features on the Triumph Speed 400. These include ride-by-wire, all-LED lights and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The bike also gets switchable traction control and dual-channel ABS. The instrument cluster helps the rider with dual odometers, fuel level, gear indicator and more.
Coming to convenience features, the Speed 400 is equipped with a USB C port for phone or accessory charging.
Hardware of the Triumph Speed 400
The front suspension set-up consists of 43 mm big piston suspension with 140 mm of travel at the. Meanwhile the rear comes with a mono shock. The rear unit gets preload adjustment.
Brakes come in the form of 300mm disc with quad-piston callipers at the front and a 230 mm disc. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
