Toyota has shared the first official images of the new Vellfire luxury van. The updated Vellfire is expected to go on sale first in Japan, followed by other regions.
The latest Vellfire is an all-new vehicle. Based on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, the new Vellfire is longer and more spacious than before. It measures just under 5.0m long and has a 3.0m wheelbase.
The front is dominated by a massive 6-slat grille. The grille occupies a significant front real estate. The T-logo is placed in the middle of the grille. On either side of this grille are dual-tiered headlamps.
In terms of design, the Vellfire gets a cab forward layout with seating for 6 occupants. It shares the design with Lexus LM. While the overall design is similar to the outgoing vehicle, the new has some unique design elements. These include a prominent kink in the side glass area, seamlessly merging front glass and continuous side glass. The pillars ge black treatment with chrome surrounds.
At the back, there are V-shaped tail lamps along with a healthy dose of chrome.
The highlight of the new Vellfire is the inside space. There is now a large aeroplane-style overhead console with multiple functions. This controls features like AC, sun blinds etc.
Toyota has also improved the sound dampening of the Vellfire. The dashboard gets a minimalistic design with a large touchscreen.
The MPV also comes with an Executive Lounge trim that offers heated and ventilated captain seats with retractable tables.
The new Vellfire gets a choice of 2 engines. These are the 2.4-litre turbo petrol rated at 275 HP and 430 Nm and a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid powertrain with a combined output of 350 HP. Both options get a standard CVT gearbox.
