Toyota has filed the design patents for a new hatchback in India. The Toyota Agya hatchback is sold in the international market could come to India as well. The patent design is similar to the current generation model sold in South East Asia.
Toyota Agya hatchback – Design & Styling
The Toyota Agya features a geometric fascia with a large radiator grille. The hatchback comes with sharp cuts and crease lines on the front, including a triangular fog lamp housing with black inserts and sharp splitter-like bumper edges. The centre part of the bumper even forms a wing-like structure giving the small hatch a sportier oomph.
The Agya hatchback features upswept headlamps with projector beams and rounded wheel arches. The hatchback also features a blackout B-pillar and window lining, and the scarce use of chrome gives the hatchback a sportier appeal. The Agya also features multispoke alloy wheels, a sporty roof-mounted spoiler and a sporty rear bumper design. The Toyota Agya also gets a combination taillamp with three-dimensional inserts.
Toyota Agya Engine Specifications & Dimensions
Powering the Toyota Agya in the international market is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. The 12-valve in-line engine with Toyota’s VVT-i valvetrain technology produces 67 Hp of power and 90 Nm of torque. The Agya comes with a 4-speed automatic transmission. But if Toyota brings the hatchback to India, it is likely to offer a manual transmission. The Agya measures 3660mm in length, 1600mm in width, 1520mm in height, and 2455mm in wheelbase. To put things into perspective, the Hyundai Santro measures 3610mm in length, 1645mm in width, 1560mm in height and comes with a wheelbase of 2400mm.
Interiors and Safety Features
The Toyota Agya in the international market features a Y-shaped dashboard fascia design. The dashboard comes with a centrally mounted audio system, urethane 3-spoke steering wheel and urethane shift knob. The instruments cluster is analogue and straightforward and features a small MID. The car also comes with a manual climate control air conditioning system. The Agya features fabric seat upholstery and manual adjustment on the seats. In terms of safety, the Agya comes with ABS with EBD as standard, wireless door lock and immobiliser, airbags for driver and passenger safety.
