Written by Akhil Dalvi

Japanese automotive giant Toyota has announced that it’s stopping the pre-bookings for the upcoming Hilux in India due to strong demand. Based on the recently released media statement, Toyota Kirloskar Motor states that they received an overwhelming response for the Hilux. Ever since its announcement on 11th January 2022, the Hilux has witnessed significant demand, especially after the commencement of bookings. However, the automaker also states that it’s facing a shortage of semiconductor chips along with increased costs of transportation and materials.

Therefore, TKM has decided to halt the bookings for the Hilux temporarily in order to tackle these issues. Along with offering an apology towards its customers for the inconvenience, TKM has assured to resume bookings at the earliest. On January 20th, 2022, Toyota opened the bookings for its highly-anticipated Hilux via its official website or dealerships across India. To keep costs low, Toyota has ensured to introduce the pickup truck in India via a Semi Knocked Down Route.
