Top 10 Electric Two-wheelers brands in CY 2021

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Electric mobility is getting increasingly popular in the country, especially in the two-wheeler segment. As per data collected from government reports, the total sales of electric two-wheelers in 2021 grew by 132 per cent when compared to 2020’s figure. The figure reads as 233,971 units for 2021 as against 100,736 units in 2020. This includes both high speed and low-speed electric vehicles.

One interesting takeaway from the data is the sales growth of high-speed E2W. Reports suggest that high-speed electric vehicles’ sales grew by almost 425 per cent. Meanwhile, low-speed electric scooter’s sales grew by a mere 24 per cent. This makes us believe that customers are more interested in buying high-speed electric scooters that are the perfect replacement for ICE scooters.

Top-10 Selling Electric Two-Wheeler Makers For 2021

Unsurprisingly, the top position is taken by Hero Electric with total sales of 46,214 units. This makes up for around 34 per cent of the total market share. Hero Electric is one of the oldest electric vehicle companies and has its presence in almost every corner of the country. In addition to this, the company also has some big plans to enable a robust battery swapping and charging network. Second, on the list is Okinawa with a total sales of 29,868 units for CY21. Riding on the success of a wide range of electric scooters, Okinawa is getting increasingly popular in the country.

Ather has also made a great impact with its eye-catching 450X and 450 Plus. The sales figure for Ather Energy stood at 15,836 units. Other key electric mobility makers featuring in the top-10 list includes the likes of Ampere, Pure EV, TVS, Revolt, Bajaj, Benling India and Jitendra New EV. For those wondering where Ola is on the list, the fact is that the EV maker delivered a total of 275 units until December 2021. This is also because the Ola S1 scooter was launched late in the year. But starting from 2022, Ola looks fully prepared to take on the market and speed up its delivery process.
