Written by Nizam Shaikh

Tata could be planning to bring a new Racer brand after its success over the Altroz Racer. According to reports, Tata Motors could be planning to introduce more Racer models in the Indian market styled similar to the Tata Altroz Racer. In addition to this, the company is also likely to introduce the Racer badge to its electric vehicle segment. The Tata Racer branded EVs are not just likely to have changes in the cosmetic department but also be more performance oriented.

Altroz EV could get Racer Badge First

It’s not a secret that Tata Motors is working on the Altroz EV, but reports reveal that the upcoming Altroz EV is also likely to come with a Racer badge. This version is likely to be performance-oriented with more attention towards its acceleration and top speed instead of range. In addition to the Altroz Racer, Tata could also introduce other electric vehicles such as the Nexon.EV with a Racer badge offering more capability in the performance department.

ICE vehicle are also likely to get Racer version as well. The first example is the Altroz Racer and the company could spawn more such cars in the near future. However, which Tata cars are likely to come with the Racer badge is still scarce and only time will tell.

Tata Motors ‘Racer’ Similar to Hyundai’s ‘N Line’?

Reports also reveal that Tata could be planning to position the Racer brand similar to what Hyundai has with the N Line. This means both hot hatchback as well as SUVs are likely to come with the Racer brand. In the past, Tata also had a performance brand – the JTP, which was a joint venture between Tata and Jayem Automotive and spawned the turbocharged Tiago and Tigor back in 2018. However, it was a niche product and with tightening emission norms, the project was limited and later shelved.
