Written by Kanad Kalasur

It seems that Tata is all set to launch the Punch EV. Recently, the Indian carmaker launched the Tata Nexon EV and the Punch is likely to borrow elements from its larger sibling.

What can we expect in the Tata Punch EV?

As seen in the spy shots, the Tata Punch EV looks to be in the production ready guise. The car sports LED headlamps on the outside along with refresh interiors.

The Tata Punch EV could come with a front charging port. This charging port is located under the front grill. Till now, all the Tata EVs came with charging ports in the conventional fuel inlet location on the side of the car.

Overall, the Tata Punch EV is quite similar to the regular Punch. The styling as well as the exterior body work is very similar. Details like the squarish wheel arches and C-pillar rear door handles continue in the EV variant. However, the Punch EV is likely to get a blanked out grille at the front and new alloy wheels to differentiate it from the regular Punch.

On the inside, the Punch EV could get a dual-spoke steering wheel, digital instrument cluster for the driver and a touchscreen touchscreen infotainment from the Tata Nexon.

Powertrain of the Tata Punch EV

While more details are awaited, Tata could offer similar options like the Tiago EV. This means two battery sizes for two different range options. The Punch EV could offer around 200 km and 300 km range options on a full charge. In contrast the Tiago EV comes with 250 km and 315 km range variants.

The Tata Punch EV could go up against the likes of the Citroen eC3 and the MG Comet in the Indian market. As awareness for EVs increases, consumers are more likely to opt for the same especially for city usage or fixed point A to B commutes.
