With the growing sentiments towards protecting the environment, Tata Motors has launched the CNG variant of its iconic commercial vehicle 407. When compared to its diesel counterpart, the CNG variant will provide 35 per cent more profit. And thus, with the CNG variant, the tagline of ‘non-stop profit machine’ will continue to echo with the 407. The truck is one of the most popular commercial vehicles in the country, known for its durability and reliability. Tata Motors has put on a sticker price of INR 12.07 lakh (ex-showroom) for this variant. The truck is available with a 10-feet load deck, thus offering a high-load carrying capacity.
Engine and Powertrain
Powering the CNG version of the 407 is a 3.6-litre engine that uses a fuel-efficient ‘SGI’ technology. The power unit delivers close to 85 PS of power and 285 Nm of torque. The equipped fuel capacity of 180 litres is practical enough to carry out the tasks and ensures a faster turnaround time. The 407 gets parabolic suspension on the front that ensures a reduced clutch and gear shift effort.
The SFC (semi-forward control) cabin is made from high-grade steel to ensure the full safety of the driver and occupants. The cabin gets basic features like a USB mobile charging port and a Blaupunkt music system for convenience. Fleet operators can leverage Tata Motor’s connected vehicle platform to manage the fleet of vehicles, thus increasing productivity and an overall cost of ownership. Customers will get a free 2 years subscription to this system.
