Skoda Auto has unveiled the all-new Fabia hot hatchback in the international market. The fourth-generation Skoda Fabia is the first small car from the Czech brand based on the Volkswagen Group’s modular MQB-A0 platform. The 2021 Skoda Fabia is not only larger than the predecessor but also offers more interiors space for both passengers and luggage. The new Fabia also features a new emotive design with the latest interior features and Skoda's 'Simply Clever' solutions. Design & Styling The new Fabia features Skoda's latest generation design language. The Skoda Fabia features sleek LED headlamps and sharp taillamps with Skoda's hallmark crystalline structures. The lower parts of the front doors also feature a triangular character line stylising the Czech flag. The Fabia also gets vertical slats on the radiator grille and a sharper bezel. On the interiors, the new Skoda Fabia features new interior colours as well as ambient lighting. The hatchback also gets new copper finish interiors with grey contrast stitching, LED ambient lighting, as well as new decorative trims. The new LED ambient lighting system allows the decorative trim on the dashboard to light up in white or red. The car also gets a new 10.25-inch digital display with five layouts. The car is also available for the first time with a dual-zone Climatronic air conditioning system. The Skoda Fabia also comes with a 9.2-inch free standing touchscreen infotainment system. Aerodynamics The brand boasts best-in-class aerodynamics with a drag coefficient (cd) of 0.28, making it the most aerodynamic car in the segment. The highly aerodynamic hatch improves efficiency and combined with a 50-litre fuel tank the Skoda Fabia claims a range of over 900 km in the WLTP cycle, which is 18 km to a litre of fuel. The drag coefficient is achieved by using a new cooling shutter in the front bumper’s lower air inlet. The shutters can automatically open and close depending on the cooling needs. This results in fuel-saving to up to 0.2-litre per 100 km when travelling at a constant speed of 120 km/h. Platform & Dimensions The 2021 Skoda Fabia features the MQB-A0 platform which allows for larger dimensions even exceeding the four-metre mark. The fourth-generation Skoda Fabia is 4,108 mm in length, 111 mm longer than the predecessor. The car features a larger 380-litre boot space which is 50-litre more than the predecessor. The new platform also adds stiffness to the chassis making it more stable and the new platform allows for a plethora of assistance systems and active and passive safety features usually reserved for higher-tier vehicles. Powertrain Powering the Skoda Fabia are three engine options. A 1.0-litre three-cylinder MPI naturally-aspirated petrol engine with two states of tune. The engines produce 65 PS of power and 93 Nm of torque or 80 PS of power and 93 Nm of torque. Both engines come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The second engine option is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol engine that makes 95 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque and comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The same engine in a higher state of tune producing 110 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque comes with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic. The brand will also offer a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI EVO engine that makes 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque.
