A successor to the popular W series motorcycle from 1966, Kawasaki has launched the new W800 Street model in the Indian market. This is the first time a W motorcycle has landed on Indian soil, and the W800 Street has been priced at INR 7.99 lakh ex-showroom. Potential buyers can book the W800 Street in a single black+grey matte paint finish and deliveries are expected to commence by mid-August 2019. The W1 was one of the highest displacement Japanese motorcycles in its class back in the day, and the W800 Street has its roots to that kind of motorcycling. One look, and the modern-classic design language will connect not just with the modern day riders, but even those who are looking for old school charm. The W800 Street will be sold in limited numbers only, so bookings will be closed once the target is achieved. Powering the W800 is a vertical-twin cylinder, 773cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, SOHC, BSVI ready petrol motor which produces 47.5 HP of power @ 6500 RPM and 62.9 Nm of torque @ 4800 RPM. The engine is matched to a 5-speed gearbox. Kawasaki wants to pitch this bike as a true classic, and not really a modern bike with modern components and only sporting retro body style. What the Kawasaki W800 Street boasts includes W1 inspired styling, upright comfortable riding stance, 360-degree crankshaft, round LED headlamp, slipper assist clutch, sculpted fuel tank, raised handlebar, old school exhaust muffler design and a contoured single-piece seat. Other features on the Kawasaki W800 Street for India include telescopic front work, dual rear shock absorber, 320mm front disc brake, 270mm rear disc brake, aluminium spoked rims, 5-way adjustable clutch lever, 4-way adjustment for the brake lever, customizable front fender, round twin-pot instrument cluster with chrome accents, analogue speedo and tachometer, small LCD MID along with black painted engine and chassis.
