Written by Nizam Shaikh

Suzuki has launched the Gixxer SF 250 and the Gixxer SF in India and the brand has now shifted their focus to the premium mortorcycle market. Earlier Suzuki had its Inazuma 250 which did not do so well in the Indian market and was discontinued. But now, Suzuki is planning to make the best use of this new 250cc engine from the Gixxer SF 250 which they have developed specially for the Indian market.

Suzuki is now planning to launched the Intruder 250. The 150cc Intruder is already on sale in the Indian market, and the 250cc model when launched will have no direct rivals because the Bajaj Avenger 220 is lower down the chain in the segment. It is possible that the Intruder 250 could make a debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. We can expect the Intruder 250 to come with features such as LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, full digital instrument cluster, new seat design, dual-channel ABS and the likes.

The Gixxer SF 250, which might be the donor for the engine on the Intruder 250 is powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve SOHC engine with Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS) which produces 26.5 HP of power @ 9000 RPM and 22.6 Nm of torque @ 7500 RPM mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine will be tuned to suit the cruiser nature of the Intruder and the gear ratios will be tweaked as well. The Intruder might also get a BSVI compliant engine.

The current Intruder is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that produces a maximum power output of 14.5 HP and a peak torque of 14 Nm coupled to a 5-speed gearbox.

The Suzuki Intruder 250 is expected to be priced around INR 1.8 lakh ex-showroom. The newly launched Gixxer SF 250 is priced at INR 1.70 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.
