Anand Mahindra has gifted the Thar 2021 SUV to Indian cricketers Shardul Thakur, T. Natarajan and Mohammad Siraj. The top boss of Mahindra Group has gifted the all-new Mahindra Thar for their performance in the India-Australia test tour played earlier this year. The cricketers also thanked Mr Anand Mahindra for receiving the Mahindra car, through their social media handles.
India-Australia Test Tour
T. Natarajan and Shardul Thakur got the Thar for their impressive performance at the India-Australia Test tour in January 2021. T. Natrajan was playing his second test match but took important wickets such as Marnus Labuschagne and Matthew Wade during the first innings. Apart from Shardul and Natarajan, Mohammad Siraj also got the new Thar for his performance at the Gabba tests. Anand Mahindra had congratulated the cricketers for their impressive performance and promised to gift them the all-new Thar SUV via his official Twitter handle. Thanking Anand Mahindra, T. Natarajan also sent him a signed Gabba Test jersey as a gesture of appreciation. Mohammad Siraj also posted pictures of the new Thar on his Instagram account and all three shared pictures with the Thar 2021 on their official Twitter handle as well thanking Anand Mahindra for the gift.
The 2021 Thar SUV Price
Mahindra launched the Thar SUV at the starting price of INR 9.80 lakh ex-showroom but due to the high demand which has racked over 50,000 bookings in just since months of the market launch, Mahindra had to discontinue the base models of the Thar 2021 and now the entry-level variant starts from INR 12.10 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai. The Mahindra Thar is available in two trim options – AX and LX. The LX trim Thar SUV price starts at INR 12.79 lakh ex-showroom, Mumbai.
Engine Options
Powering the Mahindra Thar is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel motor. The petrol engine makes 150 Bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque on the manual transmission and 320 Nm on the automatic transmission. The diesel Thar produces 130 Bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. The 2021 Mahindra Thar comes with a 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic transmission option. A Four-Wheel-Drivetrain is standard on the Thar SUV.
