Mahindra Thar SUV bookings cross 50,000 mark

The Mahindra Thar has crossed the 50,000 booking mark within just six months of the all-new SUVs launch. The Mahindra Thar is a lifestyle SUV that features a timeless design and off-road abilities. The Thar SUV comes with both petrol and diesel engine options as well as manual and automatic gearbox options. Bookings of the Mahindra Thar are open through Mahindra’s physical retail dealerships and online sales channels.

Design & Styling

The Mahindra Thar is now in its second generation but the design DNA carries over in the new model. The Thar features rounded headlamps, vertically slated grille design, butch and brawny looks, flared wheel arches, a boxy rear end and chunky wheels along with LED daytime running lights and LED taillamps that offer modernity with retro-classic styling. The Mahindra Thar is available in soft-top and hard-top versions attracting a wide range of audience.

Interior Features

The 2021 Mahindra Thar is no more the rough utilitarian vehicle but now comes with features such as four forward-facing seats, an upright dashboard with drizzle resistant 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay & Android Auto integration, roof-mounted speakers first-in-class Adventure Statistics Display with 4WD mode, pitch angle, roll angle, compass heading, engine speed, gear position, power and torque figures and a G meter, control mounted steering, a digital multi-information display, climate control air-conditioning etc.

Safety

The Global NCAP has given a 4-star safety rating for both Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection. The 2021 Thar safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), a roll cage, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX mounts etc as standard.

Engine

Powering the Mahindra that is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 150 Bhp and 320 Nm of torque. The Thar is also available with a diesel engine which is a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel unit that produces 130 Bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque. Both engines a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission option and a 4×4 driveline as standard.
