Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 caught testing in snow in Ladakh

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Royal Enfield is gearing up to launch the 450-platform based Himalayan pretty soon. The Indian bike maker has been teasing up with test mules of the bikes for a long time. These test bikes were spotted across various terrains in India as well as abroad. Now, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been caught testing in the snow in ladakh.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 : More details

The Himalayan 450 test mules have been spotted multiple times. Last time around, we got some more details regarding the fuel tank and the LCD instrumentation cluster. Now, the bike has been spotted with snow chains on the rear wheel. This means that Royal Enfield could be testing the bike’s performance in high altitudes and ice conditions.

Looking at the spy images, the bike comes with a muscular fuel tank. However, it tapers towards the rear, making it comfortable for riders to place their knees against it. Further, the handlebar is broad, offering good leverage when turning. The seats consist of a split-type setup. An earlier bike also had a luggage rack at the rear and the jerry can holders at the front.

In terms of design, only a little information is revealed from its minimal bodywork, but some details are identifiable. It gets an almost upright stance for the rider and a slight bend at the knees to reach out for the pedals – the tank curves to merge with the single-piece seat. The bike gets an all-LED setup all around. The front indicators look lifted from the Himalayan while the rear are housed in the tail lamp cluster itself.

As the bike is using a new engine, the chassis, too, can be an all-new design made specifically for this powertrain. The exhaust also appears to be an all-new design. The stubby end can looks similar to the Hunter 350.

Royal Enfield 450cc platform

This bike platform is expected to spawn two bikes – one is the Himalayan 450 while the other is most likely the Scram 450.

Apart from the Himalayan and the Scrambler, there could also be a cafe racer and an additional scrambler variant. While the cafe racer is similar to the roadster, it will get a bikini fairing at the front and lower-set handlebars.

The Scrambler version could be one with the least amount of tweaks. It could get an under-seat exhaust, front beak, tall handlebars and wire-spoke rims. It could also get a compact rear fender.
