Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 with a semi-fairing coming soon

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Images of a new Royal Enfield motorcycle have surfaced online. The photos reveal a test mule of the GT 650 with a semi-fairing. This is likely a road-legal version of the GT-R 650 featured in the Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup.

The spy images reveal a single-seat design with a semi-fairing at the front. It also has bar-end mirrors that add to its retro appeal. The rear suspension gets a remote adjuster for the dual shock absorbers. However, it appears that this could be for the purposes of fine-tuning the suspension and is unlikely to be made available with the production version.

The bike was finished in a Dux Deluxe colour. It gets the same round halogen headlamps and repositioned blinkers due to the fairing. The semi-fairing extends up to the fuel tank. There is also a provision to mount a full fairing. This could be offered as part of the official accessory for the bike when launched.

It is likely to get the same 648cc, air-cooled parallel twin engine that makes 47 BHP and 52 Nm. A 6-speed transmission is offered as standard on the bike.

Earlier this year, a test mule of the Continental GT 650 was spotted as well. It appears that Royal Enfield could launch an updated version of the bike with optional alloy wheels, a circular tail lamp from the Meteor, revised switchgear and more.

Popularity of the Royal Enfield 650

The 650 twins have recently gained a lot of popularity due to the ability to customise the bike as per one’s choice. Many aftermarket accessories, tuners and more are available to personalise one’s bike.

The bike maker also is working on a liquid-cooled version of the Himalayan and a new Bullet 350cc which would only increase the brand’s popularity in the Indian market.
