Bengaluru-based start-up River is the news. It made headlines with the launch of the latest e-scooter, Indie at INR 1.25 lakh. The key takeaway of Indie is its practicality on offer. With features such as expansive storage space, pannier mounts, front footpegs and crash guards, the e-scooter is the one to watch out for. Customers can have the River Indie in three colours. These are namely, Monsoon Blue, Summer Red and Spring Yellow.
River Indie e-scooter Mechanical Highlights
The River Indie comes with an IP67-rated 4kWh battery pack. As per the company, the e-scooter will return a mileage of 120km on a single charge. As for the charging River claims the battery can get charged from 0 to 80 per cent in 5 hours using the standard charger. The equipped mid-mounted motor on the Indie makes 6.7kW of power and 26Nm of torque. It sends power to the rear wheel via a belt final drive. In terms of outright acceleration, the scooter can go from 0-40 kmph in 3.9s. The claimed top speed is set at 90 kmph. Braking power comes from 240 mm disc both at the front and rear. Alloys wheels of 14-inch spec are on offer. Suspension duties are taken care of my telescopic at the front and dual hydraulic for the rear. To add to customers’ peace of mind, the battery and the scooter both have a 5 year/50,000km warranty.
River Indie e-scooter Key Features On Offer
In terms of features, the Indie has a colour LCD dash. The rider can also toggle between three ride modes namely, Eco, Ride and Rush. Other useful features include reverse parking assist, side stand cut-off, and 90-degree valve stems. There are some new features not present in any other electric scooters. These are crash guards and front footpegs. It also comes with two USB charging ports, one on the handlebar and one in the glove box.
River Indie e-scooter Pricing, Delivery And Rival Options
With an aggressive price of INR 1.25 lakh, the River Indie is an attractive option. When compared against its cheap rivals, which include the likes of the Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 Pro and the Ather 450X, Indie is the most affordable option.
Interested customers can book India via the company’s website starting today. The EV maker claims that the deliveries will commence in August 2023. The company has some ambitious plans to establish a fast-charging network. But this will not happen any time soon, not until at least this year. As of now, River will retail the Indie e-scooter in Bengaluru. But there are future plans to expand to more than 50 cities across India by 2024.
