Written by Nizam Shaikh

The 2021 MotoGP championship is resuming after its summer break. The championship will resume after a long summer break on 06th August 2021. This time around, the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria, will host two races.

Grand Prix of Styria

These are the new revisions made to the 2021 calendar. Under the revision, the championships will resume with the Grand Prix of Styria, after a break of five weeks. Repsol Honda Team has announced that the team is fully ready to take on the challenge at the Red Bull Ring’s 4.3-kilometre race track. Since 2016 the circuit has been witnessing hardcore battles. And both Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro are excited to be on the track.

Marc Marquez Focusses on Recovery and Training

Marc Marquez will return to the Austrian circuit in 2021 for the first time after a long absence. The Red Bull Ring is the only one of two circuits on the current calendar where Marc Marquez has not won at all. But the rider finished second on three occasions between 2017 to 2019. The 5-week long break has also enabled Marc Marquez to recover from his injuries and focus on fitness. Marc is also incorporating more motorcycle-based training into his fitness regime, revealed Repsol Honda Team. Marc’s training and focus on recovery from his past injuries will also help the rider enter the second half of the season with enhanced determination.

Pol Espargaro Training on Honda CBR 1000RR-R Fireblade SP

Since 2020, Pol Espargaro has had a bitter-sweet relationship with the Austrian circuit. Pol has fought for victory until the final corner after starting on pole position. Espargaro was also forced to settle for the third position ultimately. But the racer has quite a pace at the Austrian track. Like his team-mate, the Honda Repsol Team rider also spent his summer break training on the Honda CBR 1000RR-R Fireblade SP. Repsol Honda Team also revealed that Pol Espargaro has been training multiple days during the break time, and preparations are underway by both riders for the final half of the season.

Free Practice 1 for the Michelin Grand Prix of Styria begins on Friday 06th August at 09:55 Local Time.
