Renault Triber turbo-petrol variant delayed to 2022

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Renault is planning to launch the turbo-petrol engine option on the Renault Triber MPV in the Indian market. The brand’s head honcho has confirmed that the turbo-petrol Triber is under development but the model will not make its debut in 2021 and instead, the MPV is likely to come in 2022. The Renault Triber in 2022 could come as a mid-life update model with some changes to the exterior and upgrades to the interiors along with the new powertrain. With the facelift model, the brand will also be able to justify the new price on the Triber.

Powertrain

The Renault Triber is likely to use the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol mill that does duty on the brand’s latest introduction the Renault Kiger compact crossover SUV. The engine is capable of pumping out 100 Hp of power and 160 Nm of torque. The Kiger also comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox as well as an optional 5-step CVT automatic. Currently, powering the Renault Triber is a BS6 compliant Energy-series 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque. The engine comes with 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).

Renault Triber Easy-R AMT

In the recent past, Renault launched the Triber in the Easy-R AMT avatar with prices starting at INR 6.18 lakh ex-showroom, India. The Renault Triber Easy-R AMT is available in three variants – RXL, RXT and RXZ. The brand is likely to sell the naturally-aspirated Triber with both manual and AMT options and bring the turbo-petrol engine option with both manual and CVT option as well.

Renault Kiger

The Renault Kiger made its debutĀ in the Indian market at prices starting INR 5.45 lakh ex-showroom introductory and is available in four variants – RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. While the brand shares the CMFA+ platform with the Nissan Magnite under the Nissan-Renault alliance the Kiger wears a completely different top hat and is not just a badge-engineered product. Recently, we droveĀ the Renault Kiger in its Turbo-Petrol avatar and here is a comprehensive review of the Kiger crossover SUV.
