Renault India makes an impressive start to the year 2021 with its new launch, the Kiger. On the first day of the commencement of sales, Renault delivered more than 1,100 units of the compact SUV. The French automaker claims that Kiger will completely disrupt the segment with its high features and aggressive pricing. As it stands, it looks certain that the Kiger is indeed creating a buzz in the market and people are flocking to Renault showrooms to get a taste of the new Kiger.
This is the department where Renault seems to have invested its maximum resources. At first glance, it is certain the Kiger will be a head-turner. In the front, it feels more like a muscled up Kwid and it looks quite scintillating with the new LED DRLs and the bumper-mounted headlamps. The rear profile has the most eye-catching styling which features C-shaped LED tail lamps and the neat-looking wing-style spoiler. The all-round body cladding with 16-inch alloy wheels gives the Kiger an SUV outlook. Magnite and Kiger share the same CMFA+ platform produced jointly by the Renault-Nissan partnership.
The Kiger is available with multiple powertrain options in form of 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol producing 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque matched to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed Easy-R AMT and a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol which pushes out 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed CVT automatic. A ground clearance of 205 mm makes it a perfect fit for the Indian road conditions.
Renault is offering some high-tech kit with the Kiger. Of all the features, the highlighting ones include, an 8-inch infotainment system compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, full-digital instrument cluster, wireless mobile charging, 405-litres of boot space and a class-leading 29-litres of in-cabin storage space. In terms of the pricing, Renault is absolutely spot on. The range starts at INR 5.45 lakhs (ex-showroom) which is quite aggressive.
