Piaggio already has a clutter of Vespa variants on offer. The 125cc retro scooter has a total of 4 options available for sale, and now, Piaggio is planning to add more variants to this. Reports suggest that the Italian brand is planning to introduce fuel injection technology in it’s range of scooters.

Currently carburetted, the Vespa will receive the new fuel injection technology later this year. Price is expected to go up by Rs. 4,000 variant to variant. This feature wasn’t considered at the time of launch because Piaggio wasn’t sure about the quality of fuel available across the country, however, the company seems to have found a solution to this now. Apart from the addition of FI, the engine will remain the same 125cc block producing 10 PS of power and 10.6 Nm of torque mated to a CVT transmission.

Piaggio also plans on introducing the 150cc scooter in the near future. It already has the Sprint 150 in the international markets, and this might probably be the product on offer here in India as well. But then comes the question of pricing, the 125cc Vespa S already cross the Rs. 90,000 mark (on-road); how much would the 150cc scooter cost then? Will it find buyers? May be yes. The Vespa brand is big on emotional and aspirational connect with the buyers.
