Okinawa and Tacita, an Italian manufacturer of electric and performance motorcycles, have signed an agreement. The joint venture will form a new company and will be based in India. Production of the products of this joint venture will start in 2023.
The main purpose of the joint venture is to lower the use of fossil fuels. In addition to this, both the companies also want to establish themselves as a top player in the world of electric two-wheelers. Okinawa will provide the local development in the future products and its production line. The company’s years of manufacturing and selling electric 2-wheeler experience are coming to play here. While on the other hand, Tacita will provide the powertrain. These include controller, battery packs, motor and BMS. Tacita’s power train products result from over 10 years of research & development. The testing is done in extreme conditions, making them exceed everyday tasks pretty easily.
Okinawa and Tacita Joint Venture – Product Range
The joint venture will consist of two product lines – Scooters and Motorcycles. Both of the product lines will focus on the domestic but also on the international markets. 2023 will see the introduction of a scooter and also a high-performance motorcycle. The companies claim that the entire range will feature best-in-class connectivity systems.
Okinawa and Tacita Joint Venture – Future Plans
The following steps for the new company will be the designing, developing, patenting and testing of the new products. Starting with the design, it will happen at the Tacita headquarters in Italy along with Okinawa professionals. Additionally, they will also assist the Italian team with the powertrain, BMS and battery packs.
Road testing of the products will take place in India as well as Italy. These tests will include all weather conditions, from the humidity of the Indian monsoons to the frost of the Winter Alps. Part of the tests will most likely also include an inaugural voyage from Okinawa’s Indian headquarters to the Tacita headquarters in Italy. Okinawa and Tacita say they aim to offer highly reliable, pleasant and also usable products.
