Compact-SUV segment in India is growing at a fast pace, and even Nissan is soon planning to enter this space with a sub-Terrano SUV. However, the brand is planning to badge the compact-SUV under the budget brand Datsun, and not Nissan.
The new compact-SUV is reported to make use of a modified version of the V platform which also underpins the Datsun Go & Go+.
Also, this new compact-SUV will be the first Datsun badged product which will sport a diesel motor. Nissan is most likely to plonk the 1.5L K9K diesel engine in this model.
Although launch details and global release dates are not known, a 2016 unveiling is likely.
In 2015, Datsun will launch the Go+ compact-MPV and the Redi-Go hatchback in India.
