New Yamaha RX100 for India will have a bigger engine

The Yamaha RX100 was one of the cult motorbikes of the 90s. It was manufactured between 1985 and 1996. While it went out of production 26 years ago, even today, the bike is one of the most sought after amongst enthusiasts and collectors.

Revival of the Yamaha R100

Yamaha has suggested that they could bring back the iconic bike in the second half of the decade. This meant that the revival of the RX100 could take place sometime after 2025.

Additionally, some more details on the bike have been revealed by Eishin Chihana, Chairman, Yamaha India. According to Chihana, the new RX100 will not be coming in an electric guise. The main reason for the same being the fact that RX100 is known for its performance, sound and design. Yamaha will have to work hard to maintain the iconic brand status of the RX100. Hence, having a higher displacement internal combustion engine could be the way to go. This will also help create the same impact as the original.

It was also suggested by Chinana some time back that the revived Yamaha RX100 could arrive after 2026 in an ‘impactful package’.
