Yamaha has taken the wraps off the 2023 edition of the new Tenere 700 and Tenere 700 Rally. The bikes get a lot of new features.
Over the past five years, over 40,000 units have been sold. This makes it one of the top bikes in the adventure bike category. Thanks to the Japanese reliability, twin-cylinder engine power along with capable chassis and affordable price, the Tenere 700 is quite a popular bike. The Rally Edition gets more off-road oriented features while the World Raid Edition is catered to long distance riders with a larger fuel tank.
Both the 700 and 700 Rally Editions get upgrades. The base Tenere 700 now gets a 35 kW version for owners with an A2 licence. Apart from this bikes a new 5-inch TFT screen. This were only available on the World Raid Edition before. Depending on the riding scenario, the display can show one of two screens – Explorer or Street.
The Explorer shows Rpm to help effective riding on the dirt (mainly offroad) but showing only important detailing like power and torque. In the Street display, there are circular dials with more conventional format of information. In either case, the display is easy to read with large icons and lights which makes it highly usable in all riding conditions.
Both the Tenere 700 and Tenere 700 Rally get an onboard communication control unit that allows the rider to pair his/her smartphone to the bike. On the phone, users can download the free app from Yamaha – MyRide, to make use of it. After pairing, the display can show details like incoming calls, emails and text messages. Users can also monitor bike parameters on the app.
The app will also alert the rider incase of any problems and notify the local Yamaha dealer as well or any other designated contact via email. This is to help during breakdows. Data can also be shared on social media – like tracks, distance records, top speed, acceleration etc.
