New Skoda Octavia will launch in India before Kushaq SUV

In a media interview, Zac Hollis the brand’s Director of Sales, Service & Marketing confirms that the new-generation Skoda Octavia will be arriving in the Indian market before the Skoda Kushaq SUV.  The Skoda Kushaq will make its debut in a world premiere on the 18th of March 2021 followed by the market launch of the new-generation Skoda Octavia and then the market launch of the Kushaq SUV.

Like the Kushaq, the new-generation Skoda Octavia is also much-awaited in the Indian market. The Skoda unveiled the new-generation Octavia in the international market last year and features completely new styling with a single sleek headlamp cluster at the front, new-generation Skoda radiator grille, typically straight cuts and crease line to the sides and the bonnet, rounded wheel arches, alloy wheels, LED taillamps in the new-generation Skoda design, a layered dashboard with a minimalist approach, trapezoidal air conditioning vents, Skoda two-spoke steering wheel, Virtual Cockpit instruments cluster with satellite navigation, shift-by-wire gear selector, dual-zone climate control etc. Powering the Octavia will be a 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that produces 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque matched to an automatic gearbox. Skoda could also offer a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 190 PS of output on higher-spec models.

Skoda Kushaq

The Skoda Kushaq SUV is Skoda’s first production car in India to use the MQB-A0-IN platform, an India-specific version of the MQB (Modular Transverse Matrix) architecture. The Kushaq will have a 2,651 mm long wheelbase offering roomy and comfortable interiors, a central touchscreen infotainment system with the latest generation telematics and connectivity features, a plethora of safety features, the hallmark Skoda grille, LED headlamps and taillamps, muscular wheel arches, roof rails etc. Powering the Kushaq will be a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine as well as a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with three gearbox options – a 6-speed manual transmission, a 6-speed automatic gearbox and a 7-speed DSG (Dual Clutch Automatic).
