Citroen reveals the C5 X crossover SUV in the international market which is a unique amalgamation of a saloon, a station wagon and an SUV that comes with the latest Advanced Comfort technologies onboard such as active suspension, Advanced Comfort seats as well as semi-autonomous driving technology and both petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Design & Styling
The Citroen C5 X draws inspiration from the CXperience Concept, unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and blends saloon and station wagon styling along with a fastback body style. Citroen has paid special attention to the aerodynamics of the SUV and the C5 X features a long bonnet with fluidic lines, a high waistline, 19-inch alloy wheels, a length of 4,805 mm, a width of 1,865 mm and a height of 1,485 mm. The C5 X features V-shaped light signatures on the front and rear, LED headlights on the bumper, an X-shaped fascia, vertical slots on the lower air intake, a chrome window line and a ducktail spoiler integrated into the body.
Comfortable Interiors
On the inside, the Citroen C5 X comes with Advanced Comfort seats which have created the benchmark for seating comfort, inspired by the comfortable home furniture and produced using a high-density layer and thickened structured foam for long-distance comfort. The interiors of the C5 X are roomy and further enhanced by the brightness of the 360-degree glass areas around the car as well as a panoramic sunroof that floods natural light into the cabin. The brand has also worked extensively on the acoustics of the cabin for aural comfort.
Interior Features
The C5 X features the 19_19 Concept, which includes the Extended Head-Up Display, a large full-colour display projected through the windscreen with augmented reality, which enables the driver to concentrate on the road and all the information such as speed, navigation and phone calls are projected on the windscreen. Additionally, the C5 X features a 12-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Tablet widgets, 4 USB Type C sockets, wireless smartphone charging, etc.
Safety and ADAS
The Citroen C5 X features semi-autonomous level 2 driving which is compliant with the current legislation, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist, thanks to the radar, cameras and sensors employed on the SUV. The car also features Top 360 Vision, long-range blind spot detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, etc.
Powertrain
Powering the Citroen C5 X is a 225 hp, Plug-In Hybrid which is capable of silently propelling the SUV for more than 50 km in ZEV mode, producing zero CO2 emissions. The Plug-In Hybrid system can power the car up to a top speed of 135 kmph and is suitable for daily commutes without using petrol power for up to a week. Users can recharge the vehicle at the home, office or a public fast charger.
