The wait is finally over, we have some details of the upcoming Honda City. The Japanese carmaker has some plans for the fifth-generation City. Honda is giving the City a mid-lifecycle update. As per reports, we will get to see the updated City on March 2. As of now, we do not have the official pricing details from Honda. Thus we expect Honda to announce the prices for the City facelift around the same time. Now a few weeks before its launch, we have the images of the City facelift. With this, we get to have a clear look at the updated midsize sedan.
Honda City Facelift What Changes Do We See?
As seen before, in most Honda mid-lifecycle updates, we do not see many significant changes. The same is the case with the City facelift as well and the changes are very minimal. On the front, the sedan now gets a slightly tweaked design for the bumpers. Now the grille section has a slimmer chrome bar. The facelift update carries forward the sharply styled headlamps with nine LED arrays as before. The grille design, too, has some slight changes.
The sedan now gets a honeycomb pattern for the higher variants and vertical slats for lower variants. We understand that Honda will also add a new blue paint shade with the facelift update. From the photos, we see that even the alloy wheel design looks very much similar to the current City. At the rear, the Honda City facelift uses newly designed bumpers. On the inside, the City facelift continues the design we see in the outgoing model. But, as per sources, we know that the City facelift will come with more features.
Honda City Facelift Powertrain Details
As per the upcoming emission, the City facelift will go on sale as a petrol-only midsize sedan. Honda has axed the diesel engines to comply with the Real Driving Emissions (RDE) norms. Thus, the Honda City facelift will have petrol and strong hybrid powertrains. These engines get RDE norms as well as be E20 (20 per cent ethanol blend) compliant.
Thus City facelift will most likely come with the 121 HP, 1.5-litre petrol engine, mated to either a 6-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox. Then, there is also the 126 HP, Atkinson Cycle 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain that comes mated to an e-CVT transmission
Honda City Facelift Price Details
As per sources, the City facelift will retail about a lakh more than the current model. For your reference, the City petrol currently retails in the price range of INR 11.87 lakh to INR 15.62 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
