Kia has recently announced that it is developing a new 2.5-litre, turbocharged petrol motor, which will produce more power and efficiency. It will debut soon in the global market. Read its complete details below.

Kia turbo-petrol engine – What to expect?
As per an online report, Kia has confirmed developing a new powerful and more efficient version of its 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, TGDI petrol engine. This is a famous engine that is known to power popular models like the Sorento in the global market.
The company has confirmed that the new, improved engine will produce 5 per cent more efficiency and 12 per cent more boost than the current iteration. As of now, the current engine develops 281-290 bhp and 422 Nm of peak power and torque figures.
New hybrid coming soon
The hybrid powertrain will also get a revamp in terms of design and efficiency. Kia claims that the new hybrid system will offer improved acceleration and a smoother petrol-electric power transition.
Kia has fixed a new coaxial serial connection between the electric motor and engine, which has improved the efficiency by 4 per cent.
EREVs (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) under works
Moreover, the company has confirmed that it will use the improved 2.5-litre TGDI motor to power its upcoming EREV range of vehicles. As per the details, the engine will act as a generator to charge the batteries, which will further drive the car on a complete EV mode.
