MG Motor India reveals MG4 pure electric hatchback

MG Motor India has revealed the MG4 pure electric hatchback in the Indian market. The brand debuted the much-loved MG4 at the Auto Expo 2023 in Delhi-NCR. The MG4 pure electric hatchback was launched in the European market last year marking a new milestone in the all-electric segment. With its entry into the Indian market, the MG4 brings a futuristic EV design along with a plethora of features and compact urban dimensions. The brand also revealed that it is currently evaluating the MG4 for the Indian market. This leads us to believe that the car could be launched in India soon.

What is the MG Motor India ‘MG4’?

The MG4 is an all-electric hatchback based on MG’s new intelligent MSP (Modular Scalable Platform) platform. According to MG Motor India, the pure electric compact car comes with a high-efficiency powertrain and excellent driving dynamics. The car can also cut through the air with a drag coefficient of 0.27. The car also features sharp details on the front including a 28 LED headlight with fibre optic stripes and 172 LEDs on the taillight.

Is the MG Motor India – MG4 Safe?

The MG4 also excels in the field of safety, thanks to ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The MG4 also comes with all four disc brakes and gets a brake energy recovery system to improve efficiency. The MG4’s braking system also features three modes – Comfort, Normal and Sport. The brand also claims that the MG can come to a halt from a speed of 100 kmph in less than 37 metres. Recently, the MG4 EV also secured a full 5-star rating at the stringent Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme).

MG4 – Technical Specifications

The MG4 in the European market comes with two powertrain options. The standard trim features a 51 kWh battery with a powertrain producing 170 PS of power and a range of 350 km (WLTP) on a single charge. The mid and top trim comes with a 64 kWh battery capacity. The powertrain delivers 204 PS of power and a WLTP range of 450 km on a single charge. The MG4 EV also features a 50:50 weight distribution. Along with this, the car comes with a MacPherson front and a complex 5-link suspension system on the rear.
