MG4 EV has secured a 5-star safety rating in the latest Euro NCAP test.  The full test result can be read here.

MG4 EV Adult Protection

In the front offset tests, the dummy recorded good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger. That said, the dashboard design elements could possibly present a hazard to occupants of different sizes than the dummy or those sitting in different positions. Further, the driver’s chest was rated as marginal.

In the full-width barrier test, the dummy readings revealed good or adequate protection in all the critical areas. That said, the rear dummy’s head moved more than recommended while the body area was rated as marginal.

In the side impact tests, as well as the side pole test, all the parts of the body were well protected. The MG4 EV scored maximum points in this test. It was also observed that excursion control in the car was poor. This means that the extent to which a dummy is thrown to the other side after impact was poor.

The front seats and headrest tests showcased good protection against whiplash injuries when rear-ended. However, the rear middle seat lacks a headrest which negates the rear occupant’s whiplash test score.

MG4 EV Child Protection

In frontal offset  tests, the 10-year old dummy ‘s neck protection was rated as weak. That said, other critical areas were rated as good in both the frontal and side impact tests. Additionally, the front passenger airbag can be disabled allowing the installation of a rear facing seat. Further, all the child restraints could be installed properly and fitted in the car as expected.

MG4 vulnerable user’s test and other safety assists

In the pedestrian test, the protection of the head was rated as good or adequate on the bonnet, but it was rated as marginal or poor at the base of the windscreen and the A-pillars. The bumper offered good or adequate protection to the pedestrian’s legs. The AEB system of the car responded to both other motor vehicles and vulnerable users. The system avoided collisions when tested for pedestrians, cyclists and most other cases. The MG4 EV also has an e-call feature that contacts the emergency services in the event of a crash. It also applies brakes to prevent further collisions.
