MG Hector diesel variants upgraded to BS6, priced at INR 13.88 lakh

A Couple of months ago, Chinese owned British heritage brand MG Motors launched the MG Hector in the BS6 petrol avatar and now the brand has silently introduced the BS6 diesel variant of the mid-size SUV with a starting price tag of INR 13.88 lakh ex-showroom, India. The new BS6 model is INR 40,000- 45,000 more expensive as compared to the BS4 model across its trim range.

In the engine department, the new BS6 diesel motor retains its power and torque figures and the MG Hector is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 170 hp of power and 350 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission option. 

In terms of its design and styling, the MG Hector BS6 diesel remains largely unchanged and comes equipped with LED headlamps with F-35 air intake inspired design, LED daytime running lights with integrated floating turn indicators, chrome-accented grille, silver skid plate, LED front and rear fog lamps, dual-tone machined alloy wheels, chrome treatment on the window beltline, silver roof rails, shark-fin antenna, squared-off wheel arches, black rock guards on the lower parts of the doors and LED tail lamps. 

On the interiors, the MG Hector continues to feature leather trim on the dashboard & door trims, leather seats, leather armrests, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way power-adjustable co-driver’s seat, 26.4-cm vertically-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation and internet-connected features, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 8-colour ambient lighting etc.

In terms of safety, the MG Hector comes with a plethora of features such as 6 airbags, ABS+EBD, brake assist, electronic stability programme, hill hold control, electronic parking brakes, front parking sensors, 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat anchoring, etc.

MG Motors also recently announced that the brand retailed a total number of 1518 units in the month of March which includes 1402 units of the MG Hector. The brand has also announced a grant of INR 2 crore to obtain beds, medicines, ventilators and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves & masks for the health and welfare of its employees, their family as well as the community in general.
