Mercedes-Maybach EQS electric SUV concept revealed

Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled the new EQS electric SUV concept. The brand in Munich offered a preview of the first all-electric SUV in the luxury segment. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS is a concept car that joins the Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-EQ families. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS features the Maybach brand’s hallmark dual-tone exterior paint and an imposing grille. The Concept Mercedes-Maybach EQS shows the brand’s transition into an electric future after 100 years.

Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept – Design Highlights

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS comes with the continuous transition design language. According to Mercedes-Benz, the exterior of the EQS comes without breaks and edges. The Maybach EQS features a low front end and sloping A-pillar design. The roofline on the car is progressive and comes with contouring features that enhance the aerodynamic efficiency of the electric SUV. The roofline also incorporates a spoiler at the break-away edge. 

On the front, an upright black panel flows seamlessly into the wraparound bonnet and headlights. The LED light units on the SUV come with individual diamond blocks and a fine knit diamond mesh design. The front bumper also features filigree louvres which act as air intakes to improve the thermodynamic efficiency of the EQS SUV. 

The EQS SUV features 24-inch light-alloy wheels in the Maybach “bowl” design and aerodynamic side skirts with a customised inlay of the Maybach emblem. The car’s rear also comes with a continuous helix light strip and a chrome roof spoiler. The vehicle also comes with the hallmark Maybach “M” badge on the D-pillar.

Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept – Interior Features

On the inside, the EQS Concept SUV will feature the MBUX Hyperscreen with Maybach-specific display styles and features. The large unit span from pillar to pillar and comes with three screens. A car comes with a dedicated 12.3-inch OLED display for the front passenger as well. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS Concept will also come with newly designed door panels with floating armrests and controls. The Hyperscreen works with country-specific safety regulations. If the interior camera detects that the driver is looking at the passenger display, the car automatically dims the screen when specific content is showing.

While the brand did not announce the technical specifications of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS electric SUV but revealed that the eSUV would come with 600km of range. Mercedes-Maybach has also revealed that the EQS SUV will go into series production in 2022.
